Join us at The House of Lords on Friday 25th October 2019 for a special event to make a difference where we will be hosting two very special guests.
You may have read a book entitled ‘A Street Cat named Bob’ an uplifting and true story about a ginger cat called Bob who rescued James Bowen, a homeless man living on the streets of London who was trying and not always succeeding to break a drug habit. James used to busk in Covent Garden using the money to buy food and drugs, not always in that order. The day he spent his last £20 on cat food was the day his life started to turn around.
Bob kept following James to Covent Garden for his musical performances eventually drawing more and more crowds of people and becoming a tourist attraction. He used to high five people who drop money into James’s money pot. The book sold over half a million copies and was in the Times best seller list for 36 weeks. The book was turned into a feature film which won the Best British Film Award of 2017.
James is going to share his story with you and if Bob (now 14 years old) is well enough, he will be attending too.
Our idea is to make a difference to a number of homeless people in London just ahead of the on-set of winter by providing hats, scarves, gloves and other essentials for people living on the streets. And on behalf of Bob, we'll be making a donation to cats protection to try and do similar for them - without the hats and gloves of course although Bob is quite partial to wearing a woolly scarf.
The evening will begin at 7pm in the Peers Bar overlooking the Thames, and continue with dinner in the Peers’ Dining Room, both historic rooms are usually only accessible for Members of the House and their guests. We are privileged to be hosting our evening with The Baroness Pidding CBE.
The price per person is £165 and will include:
You can book for just 2 people, but private tables are for 10 guests, smaller groups and individuals will be seated on shared “club” tables.
We are very happy to include hotel accommodation in Westminster so that you can turn this into a short break to London. Talk to us about this and we will tailor it to a location that might suit what else you would like to include. We can also source theatre tickets for you for a Saturday matinee or evening performance.
